It was disappointing. I expected a democratic process, but nobody cared. What happened was we cast our ballots without any discussion. Then most people left. Then we voted for a chairman without any discussion. Then we elected delegates and alternates without any discussion. Then, if we wanted to, we could discuss "issues of the day": 30 seconds pro, 30 seconds con, then a vote. Nobody did.
Top 3 in my precinct:
- Mike Huckabee
- Ron Paul
- John McCain
The democrats' caucuses were slightly more interesting, I'm told. They have more complicated rules, which involve a mechanism of working toward viable candidates and discussion for any who come undecided.
It's all a Keynesian beauty contest.
